The following coverages (Short term disability, Critical Illness, Whole Life Insurance and Accident coverage) are available to new hires on a guaranteed issue basis.  There are no health questions as long as you’re actively at work.  All employees are eligible to apply during open enrollment. 

Short-Term Disability

Provides up to 60% income replacement with a maximum monthly benefit of $4,000 for short absences due to covered accidents or illness, including maternity. Choose the plan that meets your needs, including on – and off–job options. Pre-existing condition exclusions apply.  New for 2025 - Short Term disability coverage can include coverage for Psychological/Psychiatric conditions.  You MUST meet with a Colonial rep during open enrollment to add this coverage enhancement.  If you do not meet with a Colonial rep during open enrollment you will NOT have the newly available enhanced coverage to include Psychological/Psychiatric conditions.

Accident Insurance

Helps you pay unexpected medical expenses, such as emergency room and ambulance fees, deductibles, and co-pays that result from a fracture, dislocation, or other covered accidental injury.

Critical Illness Insurance

  • Supplements your medical insurance by paying a lump-sum benefit if you’re diagnosed with a covered illness, such as a heart attack, stroke, major organ failure, or end-stage renal failure. Up to $20,000 face amount for employees. Pre-existing condition exclusions apply.

Whole Life Insurance

Tailor coverage to meet your needs. Coverage up to $18/ week to a maximum face amount of $75,000 for employees. Options for spouse and child(ren) are also available for those who meet medical requirements.

The benefits below are offered with standard underwriting.

Short Term disability

Coverage amounts up to 60% of income with up to $6500 monthly benefit available on a fully underwritten basis during open enrollment, or during initial eligibility if a new hire.  

Cancer Insurance

Cancer insurance provides benefits to help offset both indirect and direct cancer costs that may not be covered by an employee’s medical plan such as:

  • Deductibles and co-pays
  • Out-of-network treatment
  • Travel, lodging and meals during treatment
  • Child care
  • Home health services

Plans also pay a benefit for an annual cancer screening test for all insureds to assist with prevention and early diagnosis.

Hospital Income

Hospital Income plans can help you with out of pocket expenses tied to a hospital admission, such as co-pays and deductibles.  A wellness benefit is included for all covered insureds.
